Agrometeorologist assessed the consequences of April frosts for grain crops.

Starting in April, Ukraine was engulfed by frosts, particularly in the western regions. Temperatures can drop as low as -5 degrees, which negatively affects agricultural crops, especially grains.
This will have a very negative impact on agricultural crops... The main thing is that the ear has not yet formed.
Winter wheat can withstand temperature drops, as its development is still not that active. However, for example, corn, which has already sprouted, will frost and die. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the timing of sowing different crops depending on the climate of each area.
Currently, it is not worth hurrying with early sowings... It is better to adhere to recommendations regarding sowing dates to avoid damage from frosts.
It is also recommended to be careful on the roads, as frosts and ice can lead to negative consequences. However, vegetables and fruits such as sorrel, spinach, dill, parsley, carrots, celery, and onions demonstrate high frost resistance and can withstand April frosts, which allows for hope for a successful harvest.
Taking these factors into account, it is necessary to follow the recommendations for sowing and further care for the plants in order to obtain a quality harvest and avoid damage from adverse weather conditions.
