US Coast Guard spotted Russian and Chinese ships near Alaska.

Increased activity of Russia and China in the Arctic region
The US Coast Guard reported that two Russian and two Chinese ships conducting joint patrols were discovered in the Bering Sea near Alaska.
Washington expressed concern over such actions, as it indicates increased military activity by both countries in the Arctic region.
«This recent activity demonstrates increased interest in the Arctic by our strategic competitors», said Megan Dean, commander of the 17th Coast Guard District.
It is worth noting that this is not the first Time Russia and China have conducted joint operations near American borders. In July of this year, they conducted joint patrols in international airspace off the coast of Alaska.
Chinese representatives said that this joint patrol was aimed at inspecting fishing boats and maintaining order in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean according to the UN convention. They also reported conducting exercises to search for and rescue illegal boats.
