In mid-summer, beets actively form root crops, so they require the maximum amount of nutrients. Experienced gardeners have shared which effective fertilizers are best to use to ensure a delicious harvest.
Mineral fertilizers
This type of fertilizer acts quickly, saturating the beet root crops with all the necessary trace elements. This month, experienced gardeners recommend paying attention to the following effective mineral fertilizers:
- Potassium nitrate, which makes root crops sweeter and firmer - 15 grams per ten liters of water
- Superphosphate, which improves root system development - 20 grams per one square meter
- Nitroammophos, which endows root crops with nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus - 30 grams per ten liters of water
Be careful with mineral fertilizers and follow the instructions to avoid the accumulation of nitrates in root crops.
Organic fertilizers
Organic fertilizers contribute to gentle and prolonged feeding for root crops. In July, nourish your beets with some of these organic fertilizers:
- Compost - spread in a layer of two to three centimeters in the rows, mixing with the top layer of soil
- Biohumus - dilute 200 milliliters in ten liters of water and water the beets at the root with the prepared mixture
- Nettle - pour one kilogram with ten liters of water and let it steep for five to seven days, then dilute in a ratio of one to ten and water the root crops once every two weeks
Remember, we wrote about what should categorically not be planted near beets in the garden.
Earlier we discussed why beets shouldn't be planted in the same place in the garden every year.
Correct fertilization of beets is the key to a delicious and high-quality harvest. Use both mineral and organic fertilizers, follow the recommendations of experienced gardeners, and your root crops will delight you with their taste and brightness!Read also
