Up to 15300 hryvnias: Ukrainians are explained whether it is allowed to collect firewood in the forest and when they are fined for it.

Ukrainians were explained the rules for collecting firewood in the forest
According to the Forest Code of Ukraine, illegal collection of timber in the forest is an unauthorized action, emphasized the public relations and press specialist of the Central Forest Office, Tatyana Budko. Dead, dry, and fallen trees are state property and can only be used by forest owners or permanent forest users with permission. To collect timber, one must have a logging ticket - a permit for the use of forest resources. Illegal actions may lead to penalties under the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
Firewood collection in the forest is of great importance for the ecosystem, as dead wood is a habitat for many insects and animals. Decomposition of wood contributes to enriching the soil with nutrients that trees benefit from. Violations of forestry legislation can cause significant damage to nature.
Fines are imposed for illegal collection of timber in the forest for individuals and officials. For repeated violations, even larger fines may be imposed. Furthermore, the collection of branches may be classified as illegal harvesting or movement of timber and lead to criminal liability.
