Kursk operation changes all assumptions about Ukraine's strategy and capabilities - Media.

Ukrainian troops began an offensive in Russia's Kursk region with the aim of occupying the territory for an indefinite period. This action is intended to become a "buffer zone" to prevent Russian attacks. Ukrainian troops had to pass through poorly trained and poorly equipped Russian conscripts, but significant strongholds Russia does not hold. According to American officials, the Russians will need at least 20,000 troops to retake the territory.
Success of the operation in the Kursk region
The Ukrainian army had to fight hard for two years, with the front line moving little, but the success of the offensive operation in the Kursk region has been a stimulus for greater mobilization and fighting spirit among Ukrainians. Social media indicates that Russian society's attitude towards Putin has become more negative due to the Ukrainian offensive.
Opposition to Putin's plans
Frederick Kagan of the American Enterprise Institute notes that the operation in the Kursk region may force Putin to come to terms with the occupation of the territory or deploy more resources near Kursk. In any case, Ukraine benefits from such developments.
"The path to success for Ukraine lies in innovation and the element of surprise. The operation in the Kursk region is one such action. We must monitor it, support it, and wait for the result before drawing conclusions," Kagan noted.
