Merz promised to help Ukraine create its own long-range weapons and block 'Nord Stream 2'.

German support for Ukraine
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz confirmed support for Ukraine with military aid during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin on May 28. The main decision is Berlin's intention to assist Ukraine in developing long-range weapons.
'We will increase pressure on Russia to weaken the military potential of the Kremlin,' said Merz at a joint press conference. The Chancellor emphasized that there should be no restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons.
Merz sharply criticized Moscow for its behavior in the negotiation process, stressing the need for real actions to achieve peace. He noted that the airstrikes on Kyiv by Russia are a 'language of war' and hinder the achievement of a truce.
Plans for cooperation
The signing of a statement of intent regarding the acquisition of long-range systems of Ukrainian production and the allocation of financial assistance for Starlink is just part of the concrete agreements between Germany and Ukraine. Zelensky confirmed investment agreements in production in Ukraine, particularly in the area of weapons and drones.
Chancellor Merz presented a five-point plan for cooperation with Ukraine, which includes launching consultations, deepening economic partnerships, and seeking ways to achieve a truce involving the USA.
