The city council of the Czech city discussed the Ukrainian flag for an hour: details of the incident.

The city council of Jihlava decided to keep the Ukrainian flag on the town hall, rejecting the proposal to remove it.

One of the councilors, a representative of the far-right party, advocated for the removal of the flag, justifying it by the changing situation. This position was also supported by a representative of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic's party. However, the majority of councilors expressed their support for preserving the symbol, arguing this was in line with friendly relations with the partner city of Uzhhorod. Both proposals were rejected in a vote.

At the same Time, the mayor of Jihlava expressed the opinion of involving Ukrainians as police assistants to prevent crime.

These measures are aimed at improving the trust of the Ukrainian diaspora in law enforcement agencies. Currently, there are already four assistants working with the Roma community, and the city is considering involving two more Ukrainians.

It is worth noting that there are currently 357,000 Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic, who will have their temporary protection extended until March 2026.
