Microsoft Returns Old File Transfer Technologies to Windows 11.

Microsoft is developing a new feature for easy data transfer to a new computer
Microsoft is working on a new convenient feature that will make it easier for users to transfer all necessary data from their old computer to a new one. This was reported by

Currently, owners of computers with the Windows 11 operating system can use a special program called 'Backup'. This program stores your files and settings online, in the so-called OneDrive cloud storage, and then restores them on the new device.
A new feature for easy data transfer
However, Microsoft developers want to make the transfer process even easier. To do this, they are creating a new function called 'Transfer Files to a new PC'.
Users will be able to choose how to copy data:
- Through the 'cloud': using the familiar OneDrive.
- Directly to another device: without using the internet.
The publication suggests that the second option will be similar to the 'Easy File Transfer' tool that was in the older version of Windows 7. This tool used home Wi-Fi networks for direct copying of folders, files, and various settings to another computer. If the user chooses direct transfer, a special password will appear on the screen that needs to be entered on the new computer to start the copying process.
The new feature is expected to allow the transfer of not only regular files (photos, documents, etc.) but also user accounts, installed programs, and individual settings of the operating system.
Another convenient feature will be the quick switching between multiple computers if they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This could simplify work for those who use several devices simultaneously.
Microsoft has announced plans to cut 3% of its workforce, leading to the layoff of about 6,000 people across various divisions worldwide.
Analysis: Microsoft is improving its programs to facilitate data transfer for users. The new feature will allow not just files to be saved, but all individual settings and programs, significantly simplifying the computer upgrade process. It is also worth noting that the company focuses on user convenience, allowing them to choose the method for data transfer at their own discretion.
