In Kharkiv region, a raven learned to imitate barking to call for help.

A raven from the Kharkiv region, who had been without food and water for a long Time, was rescued by volunteers from a shelter. The bird hid by imitating the barking of a neighbor's dog to attract attention. People heard the loud barking and noticed that there was no one in the house where the dog should be. Using an evacuation flight, the raven was transported to a shelter in Dnipropetrovsk region.
The volunteers found the raven from Kharkiv region, whom they named Vasyl, and transferred him to the shelter in Dnipropetrovsk region. There, the bird was fed and received treatment. Despite the doubts of animal rights activist Yana Rusina about whether Vasyl the raven would recover, the bird showed progress and even left his hiding place.
Currently, Vasyl is temporarily living in the shelter, where he is fed and provided with care. However, the raven avoids contact with people as he is a wild bird. Yana Rusina emphasizes that ravens should not be kept in domestic conditions and cannot be purchased as pets, as this supports poaching. There are plans to build a larger space for ravens where they can fly freely.
