A man who beat his acquaintance with a shovel has been detained in Vinnytsia region.

In the Vinnytsia region, law enforcement officers detained a man from the Khmilnyk district who beat his acquaintance and intended to bury him in the field to cover up the crime. This was reported by the Main Department of National Police in Vinnytsia region.

According to police, a 28-year-old doctor delivered several blows with an axe to the victim. After the man stopped showing signs of life, the perpetrator loaded him onto a cart and took him to the field with the specimen of his body.

Later, the victim recovered, but the criminal struck him with a shovel several more times and fled.

It is noted that the co-owner of the farm called the police and reported that one of his employees had beaten another on the premises of the farm.

The police who arrived at the scene found the 46-year-old victim in the field, near the farm buildings. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but during the medical assistance, he died.

The 28-year-old suspect, who was hiding in one of the farm premises, was detained by the police.

«Currently, investigators are addressing the issue of announcing suspicion to the offender and choosing a preventive measure for him. The detained was previously known to the police for thefts and drug-related crimes. The police are now investigating the case under part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional serious bodily injury resulting in the victim's death) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,» the statement said.

The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment for committing such a crime.

According to police, they received a report from a resident of the village of Nizhnie Syniovidne about finding an injured man on the street. The victim died before medics arrived.
