Price caps hinder the implementation of solar energy – head of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association.

The head of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, Stanislav Ihnatiev, noted that solar electricity generation suffers from price constraints in the market known as 'price caps.'
He explained that solar power plants increase energy production during daylight hours, but due to electricity price restrictions, they cannot fully realize their potential.
“Very often during the day, solar stations are even limited in electricity supply, since price caps do not allow selling this electrical energy,” Ihnatiev said.
He expressed support for the development of solar energy despite the existing difficulties: “Although I am, again, an advocate of solar electricity generation, there is such a problem.”
Additionally, Ihnatiev emphasized the growing opportunities for electricity imports from the EU, noting that “Ukrenergo” received permission to import electricity from Europe at the level of 2.1 GW starting from December 1.
Despite restrictions from some countries, Ihnatiev noted that other countries “want to develop cooperation with Ukraine” in the field of electricity supply.
