According to South Korean intelligence, the military agreement between North Korea and Russia positively impacts North Korea's financial and food situation.
According to information published by The Korea Herald, every North Korean soldier who fights on the side of the Russian Federation will receive a monthly salary of 2000 USD. It is planned to send at least 10,000 soldiers; therefore, the total amount of annual payments will exceed 200 million USD.
In addition to military personnel, about 4,000 North Korean workers work in Russia with an average monthly salary of around 800 USD.
According to the former South Korean ambassador to Russia Wi Sung-lac, the agreement includes significant food assistance to Pyongyang.
North Korea needs an additional 1 million tons of grain annually to meet the needs of its population. Russia offers to supply 600-700 thousand tons of rice, covering more than half of the deficit.
According to the national intelligence service, there will also be compensation for food shortages through arms trade, Russian assistance in developing North Korea's space technology, and an agreement on mutual military support on the Korean Peninsula.
