111-Year-Old Briton Reveals Her Secret to Longevity
Gilda Lack, who has lived for 111 years, revealed the secret to her longevity. She was born in 1914 in Great Britain and moved to Scotland during World War I. There she worked as a welder at a shipyard in Chatham and met the man who became her husband. Together they moved to the town of Rainham and became parents to two sons.
Currently, Gilda Lack lives in the same house where she once lived with her husband. Despite her age, she remains quite independent. Her relatives visit her regularly and take care of her. Gilda herself has named her love for chocolate and reading romance novels as the reasons for her longevity. It is also worth noting that she has never smoked or consumed alcohol.
It is worth noting that Gilda Lack ranks sixth in the list of the oldest people in Great Britain. The first place is held by Ethel May Katerem, who turned 115 in August 2024.
Recently, a group of scientists discovered which health indicators may help reach the century mark. They found that low levels of glucose, creatinine, and uric acid in older adults significantly increase the chances of living to be a hundred years old.
