The Telegraph received exclusive information about the plan of the newly elected US President Donald Trump regarding the settlement of the war in Ukraine. The publication cites three members of Trump's team who revealed key details of the possible peace plan.

According to the information received, the plan provides for:

• The creation of an 800-mile buffer zone between Russian and Ukrainian troops
• Patrolling of this zone by European and British military (without the participation of American troops)
• Freezing the current front line
• Postponing Ukraine's aspirations for NATO membership by 20 years
• Large-scale supply of American weapons to Ukraine to deter Russia from resuming the war

The key point of the plan is that the US will not provide troops to patrol the buffer zone and will not fund this mission. "We can conduct training and provide other support, but the military to patrol will be European," cites the publication a representative of Trump's team. "We will not be sending American men and women to maintain peace in Ukraine. And we will not pay for it. Let the Poles, Germans, British, and French do it."

The Telegraph also reports that Trump plans to start peace talks before taking office in January. Putin has already reacted to Trump's victory by expressing readiness for negotiations and calling Trump's statements about the desire to restore relations with Russia and help end the Ukrainian crisis "worthy of attention".
