Turkey Installs Solar Power Plant with 3 Million Panels.

Turkish company Kalyon Holding has completed the construction of the Karapnar Solar Power Plant (KSPP), one of the largest in the world. Thanks to advanced sun-tracking technology, the Karapnar station ensures high electricity production efficiency. This solar power plant produces 3 billion kWh of electricity per year, enough to power an entire city with a population of 2 million people.
The completion of the Karapnar Solar Power Plant (KSPP) by Kalyon Holding is a significant step forward for Turkey in the field of renewable energy. This power plant, which has an area of 1.35 GW, is one of the largest in the world. This was reported by ecoticias.com.
The Karapnar Solar Power Plant, located in the arid regions of central Anatolia, is an example of how lands with low fertility can be transformed into sources of clean energy. The construction project of the power plant began in August 2020, and by March 2023 the facility was able to reach full capacity. The solar power plant consists of 3.5 million solar panels that use an advanced sun-tracking system to improve electricity production efficiency by 15% compared to traditional panels.
Jemal Kalyoncu, the head of Kalyon Holding, noted that the Karapnar Solar Power Plant plays an important role in reducing Turkey's dependency on energy imports. This is especially critical in the context of the country's efforts to enhance energy security.
Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez stated that the country ranks third in the world in solar panel production, alongside China and Cambodia. The growth of Turkey's total electric power capacity to 104 GW has resulted in investments of around $80 billion in the energy sector. The plant is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 1.7 million tons annually, which is an important step in international efforts to combat climate change.
