In Ukraine, prices for onions and carrots have fallen: how much they cost in August.
Price changes for key vegetables: comparison of August and July 2024
Ukrainian consumers have experienced interesting changes in prices for key vegetables compared to July 2024 over the past month. According to monitoring data from 'Minfin', the portal 'Hvylya' conducted an analysis of current prices and compared them with average monthly figures for July 2024.
Carrots pleased buyers with a significant price drop. If in July 2024 the average cost of a kilogram of carrots was 30.68 UAH, now it has fallen to 27.20 UAH. This reduction by 11.3% will undoubtedly please housewives planning purchases for borscht or vegetable salads.
The situation with onions turned out to be more varied. But white onions showed a significant price drop - from 96.17 UAH per kilogram in July 2024 to the current 55.70 UAH, which represents an impressive 42% reduction. Bulb onions also became more affordable, decreasing from 22.97 UAH to 16.20 UAH per kilogram, demonstrating a price decrease of 29.5%.
The opposite trend was shown by young onions, with their cost rising from 12.54 UAH to 15.92 UAH per kilogram, indicating an increase of 27%. Red onions also became more expensive, although to a lesser extent - from 53.87 UAH to 37.06 UAH per kilogram, showing a decrease of 31.2%.
Previously, Auchan, Metro, and Varus changed the cost of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.
