A popular banknote will be withdrawn from circulation in Ukraine: what will replace it.

The National Bank of Ukraine has reported that the circulation of certain denominations has significantly decreased. This is explained by the replacement with higher denomination bills and coins.
According to the NBU, the most significant reduction was in the use of 200 hryvnia banknotes - by 24.5%. This occurred due to the active replacement with 1000 hryvnia notes and the withdrawal of outdated samples from circulation.
Noticeable decreases also concern 10 and 5 hryvnia banknotes - by 15% and 11% respectively, as these bills are being replaced by coins of the same denomination.
The National Bank emphasizes that due to widespread usage by citizens, financial preferences have changed, and people increasingly prefer to keep their savings in higher denomination notes.
This has led to the popularity of 1000 hryvnia banknotes. However, the most common in circulation remain 500-hryvnia notes, which account for 27.3% of the total number of banknotes.
The most common coins are 10 kopecks, which account for 27.8% of the total. According to NBU statistics, the least popular among the population are 50-hryvnia banknotes and 10-hryvnia coins.
Analyzing the data from the National Bank of Ukraine, one can conclude that the replacement of higher denomination banknotes with coins has become a systemic phenomenon. This indicates a change in the financial behavior of the population, which increasingly holds money in larger bills and coins. The greatest popularity has been gained by 1000 hryvnia banknotes. However, 500-hryvnia notes remain the most widely circulated. It should also be noted that 10 kopeck coins have the largest quantity in the coin circulation, while 50-hryvnia banknotes and 10-hryvnia coins are the most long-used among the population. These data indicate gradual changes in the financial sector of the country and the formation of new habits and preferences among citizens.
