Dumplings with cherries, like grandmother used to make — the dough with filling does not tear.


Real dumplings with cherries are a delicious dessert that will take you back to your childhood, to your grandmother's kitchen. The recipe is very simple and does not require anything complicated, so it is perfect for cooking at home.

For its preparation you will need:
- cold water — 100 ml;
- egg — 1 piece;
- salt — ¼ tsp;
- flour — 250 g (plus 10–20 g for rolling);
- cherries — 600–700 g;
- sugar — 70–100 g (depending on the acidity of the berries);
- corn starch — 1 tbsp;
- butter — 20 g;
- sugar — 1 tbsp;
- sour cream — to taste.
Cooking method
First, sprinkle the cherries with sugar and leave for a few hours to allow them to release juice. Then drain the excess juice (it can be used for compote).
For the dough, mix the salt, egg, flour, and water. Stir until the dough becomes elastic, then let it rest for 30 minutes. Add corn starch to the cherries and, if necessary, a little more sugar.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 3 mm, cut out circles with a diameter of 7–8 cm. Place a little filling on each circle and shape the dumpling.
Cook in boiling salted water for 5–8 minutes depending on size. Brush the ready dumplings with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Serve with sour cream.
