An American from the Cherokee Tribe Joined the Ukrainian Army

Edison, known as Kosmos, is a 25-year-old American belonging to the Cherokee tribe. He decided to join the Ukrainian army, despite having no prior military experience or being in the U.S. Army. Edison joined the 108th Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense, and his dedication was sparked by a belief in the just struggle of Ukrainians for their rights.

“The door to the backyard of my house led to my neighbors, who were Ukrainians. I got along well with them and spent Time with them. I never discussed with them the possibility of going to Ukraine, but one day I thought, 'Why not,'” Edison recounted.

The Ukrainian Language and Working with Drones - The American's Mission in Ukraine

After studying the history of Ukraine, including the Holodomor, Edison decided that his mission would be to help in the struggle for freedom in Ukraine. As a soldier, he works with drones and is learning the Ukrainian language to improve communication with Ukrainian soldiers.

Interestingly, in the second international legion for Ukraine, fighters from over 30 countries participate, supporting Ukrainians in their fight for independence. Additionally, the President of Ukraine signed a law allowing foreigners to serve in officer positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, opening new opportunities for international volunteers and soldiers choosing a military career in Ukraine.
